Brittny's StoryOn January 27, 1994, Brittny Jane Williams was born healthy and beautiful in Lexington, Kentucky. Her parents Dannette and Steve were so proud and her big brother Brandon cuddled her with love. For two and a half years Brittny was a normal and happy child, aggravating her brother and amusing her parents with toddler antics; oh, how she could make you laugh and melt your heart!On July 3, 1996, Brittny was diagnosed with leukemia. She battled for a year and made it to the maintenance phase of treatment. On September 2, 1997, Brittny relapsed, but this time the cancer was in her brain and spine. She fought hard! After many radiation treatments and more intensive chemotherapy, her protocol concluded in March 1999. Brittny again was a healthy and happy child. Life was good!On April 5, 2007, Brittny's life was once again changed, this time by a malignant brain tumor. Brain surgery to remove the tumor was not successful, but giving up was not an option. She was treated with 28 irradiations to the brain and numerous chemotherapies. Brittny fought hard for 17 months, but succumbed to the disease on August 30, 2008.Brittny learned so much and experienced many of life's treasures before she became an Angel at age 14. She enjoyed hanging out with friends, shopping, listening to music, talking on the phone, school, Indian Summer Camp, and being with family. Brittny loved her two dogs Abby and Leo, her beautiful pink bedroom, and her cool "punch-buggy". She learned early in life what it was like to be different, a child with no hair, swollen body and face caused by steroids, and scars from surgeries. Those blessed to know her remember Brittny as a tiny, blond beauty who on the outside seemed delicate and fragile, but on the inside had the spirit of a warrior. She touched everyone who knew her with her strength and love and set an example for us all to live life to the fullest.
